Event Route Information
The event start location for 4-Wheel drive and 2-Wheel drive vehicles will be Main Street Pavilion- GPS Coordinates: 33 08’52.4N116 07’32.4 W or N33.147878-W116125378. Staging starts at 1:30 PM for a 2:30 PM start.
Routes will be as follows:
4-Wheel drive vehicle route:
Main Street to Benson Lake Loop and turn right. Benson Lake Loop to Morton Road and onto San Felipe Wash. San Felipe Wash to Roadrunner Trail (near Blu-Inn). Roadrunner Trail to Cahuilla Trail and fall in behind the 2-Wheel drive vehicles.
2-Wheel drive vehicle route (road conditions permitted):
Main Street to Cahuilla Trail where they will line up and wait for 4-Wheel drive vehicles to follow behind.
Once 2-Wheel drive and 4-Wheel drive vehicles are lined-up, all vehicles will proceed on Cahuilla Trail to Tarantula Trail and turn right. Tarantula Trail to Shell Reef Expressway. We will take a slow drive by Mile Marker 1.9 and proceed on Shell Reef Expressway to our final stop at Main Street Pavilion.
Final stop, Main Street Pavilion: participants will park, listen to Megan’s story, safety talks and related speeches. Expected booths will be California State Parks and Recreation, American Sand Association, California 4-Wheel Drive Association and CORVA. Safety pamphlets will be available for all participants.
Exit route for participants: Main Street Pavilion.
If road conditions are NOT permitted, 2-Wheel drive vehicles will leave approximately 30-40 minutes after 4-Wheel drive vehicles. 2-Wheel drive vehicles will take Main Street to Quarry and onto Shell Reef Expressway. Shell Reef Expressway to Mile Marker 1.9 where they will meet with 4-Wheel drive vehicles, turn around and 2-Wheel drive vehicles will lead back to Main Street Pavilion.
